Did you know that in 2015, the US Congress passed the Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015, effectively banning companies from using plastic microbeads in their products, to help protect our oceans and the ecosystems that depend on their cleanliness.
Microbeads are tiny plastic beads which, when rinsed away from your skin into the sink or shower, make their way eventually into the Ocean where they can be eaten by animals who mistake them for food. Obviously, this can have catastrophic effects on the animals that ingest them and the knock-on effect throughout the ocean food chain (and beyond) is enormous.
What is ZO Skin Health doing?
ZO Skin Health removed these beads from manufacturing in the US so our UK stock is of the same ‘Ocean Friendly’ standard.
Therefore, exfoliating products in the ZO Skin Health range now contain both white and blue beads which dissolve with the warmth of your hands. The gentle beads release Vitamin E and antioxidants, meaning they’re kinder on the oceans and your skin.
