Is Stress Giving You Spots?

Published

One of the questions we get asked a lot is ‘what is causing my spots?’. There is no simple answer to this, but the chances are, stress might be playing a role. We are all facing a very stressful time with Covid-19. Not only does isolation cause stress there are many other factors we have all had to consider. In times of high stress, our bodies produce increased levels of cortisol, which in turn increases sebum production. This can in turn cause acne, breakouts or other skin issues, so it isn’t surprising if your skin isn’t in top condition right now.

The first thing to do is to take some time to rest and listen to your body and mind. Since your spots may be stress-related, some pamper time looks like it’s needed! Here are a few products that might help you to deal with stress breakouts.

ZO Sulfur Mask With Acne Control
ZO Hydrating Cleanser
ZO Exfoliating Polish
ZO Oil Control Pads

And here’s a pampering routine to try at home:

1. Apply thin layer of Acne Control or Enzymatic Peel and let it dry in.

2. Apply a layer of Sulfur Mask, which will dry hard.

3. Choose your favourite herbal tea and put your feet up!

4. After 30 minutes, remove it by massaging with water to loosen and then washing off.

5. Apply your evening protocol skincare specifically tailored to your skin (we will advise you on this).

TOP TIP

The Sulfur Mask can be used to spot treat as can Acne Control, or they can be applied weekly as above. Each protocol states specific use so ask us if you are not sure how to use it in yours.
