Are Moisturisers A Waste Of Time?

Published

Here’s why we disagree with the use of moisturisers. Moisturisers are popular products, especially among women. More than 90 percent of the population seek a program that offers hydration for a temporary feeling of skin smoothness. But the key word there is ‘temporary’. Any skin improvements brought about through moisturisers will be temporary.

Moisturisers can only offer momentary relief for symptoms such as irritation, roughness or itching, so trying to fix them with a standard moisturiser is pointless. The improved surface texture through artificial smoothing or plumping of the skin is fleeting and only provides superficial improvement rather than getting to the root of the problem.

The truth is that these products are ineffective and lack any real benefit. While the occasional use of hydrators when absolutely necessary is acceptable, to depend upon them for hydration and calm skin on a daily basis is wrong. What’s more, repeatedly using moisturisers has a remarkably negative impact on your skin, making it weaker and drier. It is detrimental to skin cellular functions, arresting the skin’s ability to renew itself, leading to the appearance of ‘sensitive skin’ and an acceleration of skin ageing. Moisturisers often mask the symptoms of deeper skin concerns, rather than fixing the cause.

So, what is the answer?

Does the above sound like you? You need to stop masking skin problems with quick fix moisturisers and other mass skincare products and find a skincare regime that works for you. This requires a tailored, individual approach compiled with the help of a professional.
